Security Statement

Rabobank has implemented extensive measures to protect your account information when using Rabobank Internet Banking. Click on the links below for an explanation of the individual security controls deployed for your protection.

Firewall

Firewalls are a set of related programs, located at a network gateway server, designed to prevent unauthorised entry into a computer or network. Further software has been utilised to monitor suspicious activity and automatic alerts are generated if abnormal activities are detected. In addition, Rabobank subscribes to monitoring services that regularly report on potential vulnerability.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

When you login to Internet Banking a secure session will be established between your computer and the Rabobank Internet Banking system. This secure connection uses a technology called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL is the industry standard security protocol that protects the confidentiality, integrity and authenticity of data transferred during the session, and includes the use of digital certificates.

Digital Certificate

A digital certificate is a specific type of code that is attached to a message or file to encode or 'sign' the file for security purposes. It establishes a user's credentials when transacting on the Internet. Rabobank uses the VeriSign Secure digital certificate. To view the VeriSign details click on the small padlock in the bottom of the Rabobank Internet Banking window.

128-bit key Encryption

Information sent through a system using 128-bit key encryption is coded using mathematical 'session keys' randomly generated for each session. 128-bit refers to the size of the key used to encrypt the message and is the strongest method of encryption in general use. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, a locked padlock will appear on the bottom right of the screen when encryption is in use.

Identification tokens

Rabobank's identification token is part of a leading user authentication system. The token generates a unique number every 60 seconds, so that each time you log in to Rabobank Internet Banking you use an identification number (your Passcode) unique to that session.

Security Precautions

To complement the security features we have implemented for Rabobank Internet Banking, it is important that you adhere to the security precautions regarding the use and storage of your Username, PIN and token defined in the Rabobank Internet Banking Conditions of Use.

In addition to these precautions, ensure that your computer has up-to-date virus scanning software and that you use only the recommended browsers as defined in the Technical Information section for Internet Banking on this website.

Verified By Visa

  • Rabobank has enrolled its Visa Business Debit cardholders in the Verified by Visa program. This is a global authentication program designed to protect cardholders from fraudulent transactions when making online purchases from registered Verified by Visa merchants with their Rabobank Visa Business Debit Card.
