When fruit and vegetables are in abundance, they’re typically more affordable. Farmers are harvesting larger volumes, supply is strong, and the produce hasn’t travelled as far.

If you notice one ingredient is especially well-priced - lean into it.

Maybe tomatoes are everywhere. Maybe chicken thighs are on special. Maybe broccoli is stacked high at the market. Choose that ingredient as your “hero” for the week and build multiple meals around it.

When prices drop on seasonal produce, consider buying slightly more - with a plan.

Freezing is one of the easiest ways to lock in both freshness and savings. Slice strawberries before freezing so they’re smoothie-ready. Blanch green beans so they hold their colour and texture.
