What we will do if we observe any of the above
1. In an emergency: refer to the Client Requiring Extra Care - Manage an Emergency Situation call Triple Zero (000) If you have immediate concerns for your safety or the safety of another person.
2. 1800 FREEDOM: Call 1800 FREEDOM (1800 3733366) or antislavery@dcj.nsw.gov.au for confidential support and assistance from the NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner.
3. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) lead Australia’s policing response to prevent, disrupt, and investigate suspected cases of human trafficking and other modern slavery crimes in Australia.
4. You can call the AFP to report a suspected case of modern slavery on 131 237 (131AFP) or report online- external site. The information provided will remain confidential. You should seek consent before reporting on behalf of another person who is at risk or experiencing modern slavery.
5. The AFP seeks to protect and support people experiencing or at risk of modern slavery. They can provide advice and referrals to other services that provide accommodation, financial support, counselling, and legal and immigration advice.
Australia has dedicated support programs to help with your safety, security, health and wellbeing needs if you have experienced modern slavery, including forced marriage. The Support for Trafficked People Program is delivered by the Australian Red Cross and the Forced Marriage Specialist Support Program is delivered by Life Without Barriers
If you are eligible, a caseworker will help you access the services you need. These might be:
· somewhere to stay or live
· healthcare
· counselling
· legal advice
· migration advice
· financial help
· training to help you develop new skills, including learning or improving your English
· social support.
