The Western Australian sheep industry plays a significant role in the national flock, its characteristics— such as geographical distance, reliance on global exports, and a smaller local market—makes it a unique contributor in the domestic sheep and wool sector.

The Western Australian grains market is unique for its strong export focus, with approximately 90% of grain production exported, and its emphasis on research, ag-tech and innovation to address challenges such as reduced rainfall and sandy soils while increasing their annual harvest volumes.
